The majority of contemporary sports car has front-wheel drive as opposed to a rear-wheel drive, which is more common in previous generations of sports cars. Many cars also have a machine in the middle, rear-wheel drive, which is unique to sports cars. In the car, the engine is placed behind the driver, in the middle of the chassis. Porsche is the only sports car that has the engine mounted in the rear, rear-wheel drive. Currently, the design and manufacture of sports cars became more specialized and competitive, with newer, more attractive design and a higher level of technical sophistication used.
